Overview
The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar, the 15th IIM established under the aegis of the Ministry of Education (formerly the Ministry of Human Resource Development), was founded with the support of the Government of Punjab. Following the registration of the IIM Amritsar Society on July 27, 2015, the inaugural MBA batch (2015-17) commenced in August 2015. Subsequently, on October 14, 2015, the IIM Amritsar Board of Governance & Society was constituted, marking a significant milestone in the institute's journey.
Situated in the historic and culturally vibrant city of Amritsar, celebrated for landmarks such as the iconic Golden Temple and the Wagah Border, IIM Amritsar draws profound inspiration from its rich heritage. The institute currently operates from two strategically located facilities. Administrative functions are partially housed in the Punjab Institute of Technology building, just 5 km from the railway station and 10 km from the airport, while academic sessions are conducted at the state-of-the-art IIM Amritsar campus in Manawala, conveniently positioned approximately 7 km from the ISBT and 8.5 km from the railway station.
